Golf Courses Near the Valley River RV Resort
We’ve talked a lot about the different things you can do here in Murphy, NC, but we were dismayed to realize we hadn’t talked about the amazing golf courses near the Valley River RV Resort. When you stay at Valley River RV Resort, you’re close to a number of great courses and we thought we’d take a little time to tell you about a few of them.
Butternut Creek Golf Course
Just a short drive away is Butternut Creek Golf Course. It is a municipal course over in Blairsville, GA. I know hearing another state mentioned makes it seem far away, but it’s only about twenty to thirty minutes down the road.
It has rolling valley holes and some challenging slopes. It is only 6,400 yards but features 4 to 6 tee boxes on every hole. They use Penncross Bent Grass for the greens and Tifton 419 Bermuda for the fairways and tees.
Chatuge Shores Golfing
Another option is Chatuge Shores, over near Chatuge Lake, about 20 minutes away. This public golf course has a 4-star rating by Golf Advisor and Golf Link. Their course measures 6,498 yards from the back tees and has a par of 72.
The rating is 10.8 with a slope of 129. Their rates right now $40 for 18 holes with a cart, $25 if you’re walking. Prices go down by $5 for both if you’re teeing off after 1pm.
